For over 10 years, MATRIX Global Design Team member, Nicholas French, has been instrumental in the development of Trends and Collections for Matrix shows and industry events.
Working exclusively for MATRIX, Nicholas has traveled the world as a well-known guest artist. His exploits have extended to designing the runway hair for such designers as Emanuel Ungaro, Eres, Luca Luca, Alpana Bawa, Guess Jeans, Levi, Dollhouse, Mavi, and Betsy Johnson. He recently appeared on Fashion TV, E Channel and Channel 7 in Chicago and additionally The Today Show, Good Morning New York, Channel 7 in Sydney Australia and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Nicholas has been invited to appear seven times at the Alternative Hair Show — the last four in Chicago 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 — and has received many best main stage and educational awards.
NICHOLAS FRENCH hails from a world famous British hairdressing family. His own story is very unique having owned several salons in the UK. He has expanded his interests to working in print, video and even motion pictures.
Nicholas has traveled extensively producing over 1,500 high-energy educational shows for professional hairdressers in the USA and glamorous destinations around the world including Japan, Australia, Italy, France, Spain, Hong Kong, Holland, Switzerland and Croatia. His presentations range from small hands-on to large shows for over 2,000 people.
For the new Millennium, Nicholas French recognizes the evolution of hair design, which has finally taken its important place in the fashion world. His presentations are carefully positioned in the market place to a far more discerning audience so Nicholas uses a well-sourced international fashion consultant to research the way forward in design. With this intelligence, he has the advantage of seeing future fashion trends in advance. Every country, every state, every city has its own signature, its own demographic identity. The Nicholas French approach is to educate through forward planning so that once an audience has gained the reality of a new trend, be it color, wave or haircut, the audience (wherever they come from) will have that edge over their competitors. The French show will always have a cross section that caters to the many different standards of salons, whether it’s the basics, the classics, or the avant-garde with a special section of the presentation dedicated to a specific upcoming commercial trend.
Nicholas’ statement for 2005 is
“ AWAKEN, IMAGINE, INSPIRE, CONNECT”
An exciting show format that includes the new MATRIX collection and goes beyond into the world of runway looks translated from the red carpet to behind-the-chair styles. Nicholas’ shows include cuts, colors, dress work, up-do’s and a multitude of take-home ideas for the professional hairdresser.
