I have been cutting, slicing. chipping, blending, stacking, texurizing hair for forty years and for most of those years I thought I was using the best tools available. I was wrong. As soon as I picked up my Fan
Outs I realized they were different and when I cut hair with them WOW my minds eye and results have never been closer, I love them!!!
Bernie Koch's forty year career began in his father's barbershop. A
second generation hairstylist and student of haircutting, Bernie became a leader in the men's hairstyling movement in the 1960's, which changed men's grooming habits.
Inspired by Vidal Sassoon's precision haircutting, Bernie expanded his
work to include ladies hair cutting and styling, opening the first
haircut and blow dry salon, and the first salon to employ both
cosmetologists and barbers in Springfield, Illinois. Working as a guest
artist for several major manufacturers, Bernie helped develop
haircutting and communication skills for thousands of hairstylists
nationwide and in Canada, while sharing his philosophy that, "mastering
the basics of haircutting instill the confidence needed to grow;
mastering professional communication skills creates the opportunity to
be successful."
Bernie's work has been featured in various industry trade magazines, and
the 1990's, his salon was awarded Salon of the Year in their category,
by Salon Today Magazine. Bernie also was named Small Business Owner of
the Year for Sales Exceeding $1 Million by the Springfield Chamber of
Commerce in 2003.
Quote by Bernie: "I believe that appearance is a language people speak.
I don't want to tell people what to say with their appearance; I want to
help them speak this language eloquently."
